Cycle of Life

Death

This past week a cousin, Marylou Blair, passed away.  I love this photo of her at a grandchild’s wedding.  Her husband, Dave, and my father grew up together in Detroit.

After they retired from teaching, Dave and Marylou moved to an A-frame in Watsonville, California, among the redwoods.  My children loved their place, especially the workshop in the barn.  Dave and Marylou dropped in on my mother every year in their Fifth Wheel.   I visited them in Sisters, Oregon five years ago, and Sequim, Washington after Marylou became ill.

Birth

My third grandchild, Aiden Trey Custer, was born yesterday evening to my daughter, two weeks late, at home with a midwife and family.  9 lbs 6 oz 21”.

He is healthy, if not happy to be out in the world.  From the right, he is just out, in the hands of the midwife.  Later, with his sister and dad.  This morning with me.

Congratulations on the new grandson, and condolences on the loss of your cousin. Life indeed is a cycle, it’s good to have a birth to offset the death.
How nice that you could be there for Aiden’s birth.
